There is much to love about Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year and other festivities. The down time, the food, spending time with family, friends and loved ones, the overall mood.
Yet for some, this period presents its challenges for various reasons. We will find a better time to go into other reasons, but at this moment, we'd like to talk about the challenge of sticking to a healthy-eating habit during this period
If you find yourself oscillating between fully enjoying all the aspects of celebrations and sticking to your healthy-eating goals, you are not alone. But we are here to shine a light on the nuances of this topic.
To simplify the situation, there are three approaches you can take:
Forget about any fitness goals
Give up all enjoyment and rigidly follow your fitness and macro targets
Find a happy in-between where you can have both AND peace of mind
All of these approaches are viable for your wellbeing -- physical, mental and emotional. Whichever you choose, do it whole-heartedly.
For some of us, momentarily relaxing our view of fitness goals and macro targets is the right choice, to be able to fully enjoy the special times.
For others, the right choice might be to stick to their macro targets, stay on a path of consistency and reap the rewards of their hard-work.
The reality is that for a lot, if not most of us, the best approach is somewhere in between. We absolutely can indulge in the feasts and desserts, share a good time with loved ones, while still consciously choosing not to stray too far from our goals.
This happy overlap is why we made XO-ice indulgent and equally healthy. Full of flavour, not-too-sweet for Asian palates, velvety gelato texture, and yet low sugar and rich in protein.
If you're ready to embrace healthy indulgence this Christmas, try this Croffle topped with our gelato which combines both festive cheer as well as the added bonus of reduced calories and more protein.
Recipe and steps:
Croissants. We used store-bought croissants and put them into a waffle-maker. You can also bake from scratch, use frozen croissant dough from the grocery store or just get croffles from your favourite bakery! 🥐
XO-ice flavour of your choice. We went for our Not-so-plain Vanilla for that classic flavour with extra protein🍨
And on theme with the festive season, we also added our new Gingerly Chocolate flavour, a twist on our Seriously Chocolate with kick of spice 🍫🫚
Toppings. Top with a few things nice 🍓We went for strawberries and a few mint leaves for that festive air
LET. IT. SNOW. ❄️ with a dusting of powdered sugar. Feel free to can skip this if you want to avoid the little extra calories
Et voila! A simple, cute dessert with additional protein. The perfect dessert to enjoy while listening to this mesmerising rendition of Last Christmas.
Happy healthy holidays!
xoxo
